How can mediation help tackle issues of harassment in the workplace?
Despite a widespread focus on new workplace strategies such as soft skills, emotional intelligence and early resolution, harassment unfortunately remains an issue. Many employees choose not to report issues of harassment as they cannot imagine a positive outcome.
Harassed staff have poorer mental health, reduced productivity and are much less likely to leave your organisation. Not only this, but if they are fearful of speaking up, then issues can build up further and create a greater impact later on.
This is where harassment mediation can help. Our expertly trained harassment mediators are equipped to return the situation to one of balance and understanding. This can help restore an equal environment between the parties in dispute, without resorting to blame.

When allegations of harassment are made within your organisation, a fast response is crucial. It can be difficult to achieve such a response when internal staff are very often busy with other important functions. Our large pool of workplace harassment mediators means we can commence the process within 5 working days of receiving a referral. Thanks to our 30 years’ experience, and the skills/ expertise held by our practitioners, we are proud to report a 97% success rate in terms of reaching positive outcomes.
Our model of harassment mediation sets us apart from the competition. We practice the interactive model, which facilitates needs-based communication between parties, to enable for an increased understanding, essential for relationship rebuild. While other providers simply focus on developing actionable solutions to the currently presenting problem(s), our mediation process helps with participants’ long term development, and in doing so, avoids repeat issues from occurring in the future.
Harassment mediation when conflict affects a whole team
Issues of harassment in the workplace can very often have a wider team impact. Colleagues are almost always impacted by a bad working relationship, on some level, even if it doesn’t obviously show. In such cases, the wider team tend to take views, form alliances and may get involved, leading to reduced productivity and further unwanted conflict.
Large group conflicts bring with them more complex problems and challenging dynamics which make them almost impossible to mediate internally. In such instances we would always recommend seeking expert intervention. All CMP group mediators not only have the very best mediation skills, they are also expertly trained in facilitating/ managing large group interactions. This puts them in the best possible position to respond to and address conflict amongst large groups.
